Test Info

BABY GEM TEE

Test Knit Deadline: June 28, 2026. 6 weeks (tentative date, I may extend it if needed)

Skill Level: Easy Intermediate. Experience knitting top down sweaters in the round and back and forth with circular needles is preferred. Familiarity with German Short-rows or other short-rows will be helpful.

Compensation: Upon successful completion of the test knit, testers will gain access to my pattern library.

Yarn: Choose a 100% cotton or summery fibre fingering weight yarn with a little bit of structure. Cotton or linen blended with other fibres (silk, bamboo, wool, etc) would work well. Wool sock yarn is an option as well, if you would like a warmer tee.  See Yarn amounts below.

I used Sandnes Garn Mandarin Petit for my sample.

Other Yarn Ideas: Hobbii Rainbow Deluxe 8/4 Cotton, Rowan Summer Lite 4ply, Ritual Dyes Undine, Fraya Yarn Soft, Katia Fair Cotton, Knitting For Olive Pure Silk or Cotton Merino, etc.

Test Knit Pattern: If selected for this test knit, pattern will be emailed to you as a PDF. An Instagram chat group will also be used for testers to share info, photos etc.

Some Notes About the Pattern and Test Knit

~ This tee is worked from the top down. First the back neck and shoulders are shaped, then fronts are picked up from shoulders and worked to underarms, and the body is joined in round. Sleeves are picked up and knit from armhole edges and shaped with German short-rows.

~ This tee is intended to be worn fitted with 0-5cm / 0-2 inches of positive ease. It has been graded to fit standard shoulder widths and chest circumferences.

~ The body has no shaping. However, individuals may wish to add shaping to suit their personal needs, such as bust darts and / or waist shaping. The pattern does not include instructions for these techniques

~ This tee has a cropped length. If adding significant length for a less cropped fit, more yarn will be required.

~ Techniques such as German Short-rows, etc are explained using video tutorials
