This is a very simple top down raglan sweater, perfect for the knitter who is looking for a simple project to delve into colour work. The vertical stripe pattern is easy to do and there is no need to follow a complicated chart. Alternatively, knitters can customize the colour work by breaking up the stripes to make dots or checks, or by omitting the colour work altogether.

SIZES

Finished Size 37¼ (41¼ , 45¼ , 49¼ , 52, 56)" bust circumference. Pullover shown measures 37¼"; modeled with 5¼" of positive ease.

MATERIALS

Recommended Yarn

Cascade Yarns Nevado (39% llama, 38% wool, 23% nylon; 164 yd 150 m/3½ oz 100 g):

#06 charcoal (MC), 4 (5, 5, 5, 6, 6) skeins

#02 almond (CC) 1 (1, 2, 2, 2, 2) skein(s).


Needles 

  • Sizes 10½ (6.5 mm) and 11 (8 mm): 32” circular (cir) and set of double pointed (dpn)

  • Size 10½ (6.5 mm): 16” cir.

Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.


Notions 

  • Markers (m)

  • Stitch holders

  • Tapestry needle

GAUGE

12 sts and 18 rnds = 4” in St st on larger needle.

NOTES

This pullover is worked in the round from the top down with raglan shaping. The back of the neck is shaped first by working back and forth, and then is joined in the round to create a shaped neckline. 

Try and keep floats in the back loose while working the Vertical Stripe pattern and the Corrugated rib. If you still find that it is too tight and is drawing in, try using a needle that is 1 to 2 sizes larger.
