The PokaPoka Hat is a reversible double layered hat worked in two different textured yarns, and with multiple depths and top finishing choices. It is worked as one piece in the round, but in two sections; like two hats attached together at the bottom.

Finished circumference: 46.5 (49.5, 52, 55)cm / 18¼ (19½, 20½, 21¾)” - to be worn with approx 6cm / 2½” negative ease

Yarn A: Qing Fibre Merino Single (fingering / 4-ply-weight; 100% superwash merino wool; 366m / 400yds per 100g skein)

Watch Cap: 1 skein, or approx. 150 (165, 175, 190)m / 165 (180, 190, 205)yds of smooth fingering / 4-ply-weight yarn

Beanie: 1 skein, or approx. 200 (215, 230, 250)m / 215 (235, 250, 270) yds of smooth fingering / 4-ply-weight yarn

Yarn B: Qing Fibre Kid Mohair Silk (lace-weight; 70% mohair, 30% silk; 420m / 459yds per 50g skein)

Watch Cap: 1 skein, or approx. 115 (125, 135, 145)m / 125 (135, 145, 160) yds of mohair / fuzzy textured lace-weight yarn

Beanie: 1 skein, or approx. 145 (160, 170, 180)m / 160 (175, 186, 200)yds of mohair / fuzzy textured lace-weight yarn

Gauge

28 sts & 40 rows = 10cm / 4” over St st with yarn A (Merino Single) on 3mm needles, after blocking. 

28 sts & 36 rows = 10cm / 4” over St st with yarn B (Kid Mohair Silk) on 3mm needles, after blocking. 

Be sure to check gauge and block both yarns and adjust needle size as necessary to obtain same stitch gauge for both yarns. You might require a different needle size for each yarn. Please make sure to take note of row gauge, as you will need to know it!

Needles

3mm / US 2½ circular needle, 40cm / 16” length AND needles suitable for working small circumferences in the round

3.25mm / US D crochet hook (or larger) for Crochet Provisional Cast-On

Two 3mm / US 2½ double pointed needles for working I-cord stalk (optional)

Always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

4 stitch markers (including one unique for beg of round), smooth waste yarn (for provisional cast-on), tapestry needle, pompom maker (optional)
